What Mackay lacks in high fashion it makes up for in vintage and second-hand options. The city’s opportunity and charity shops are spread out so you’ll find somewhere to go whether you’re shopping in the city or out in the ‘burbs. Yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s fashion can be found at these great op shops around Mackay, Queensland.

City Heart

The majority of Mackay’s op shops can be found right in the heart of the city.

The Salvos Hall on Gregory Street (officially called Mackay Corps) is jam packed with great quality clothing at competitive price. You won’t find high fashion here but you will find some great staples and some cute vintage pieces too.

Down the road on Sydney Street there’s an Australian Red Cross store and further down that street is an Endeavour Foundation store selling the goods. There’s also the easily spotted Lifeline store on Shakespeare Street which packed with treasures.

While you’re in the area, check out the Vinnies on MacAlister Street opposite St Pat’s which has a huge fashion department to shop.

Mackay CBD is also home to the beautiful Trinity Op Shop in Parish Hall on Gordon Street which has so many lovely vintage pieces. This is one of my favourites because it’s so well priced and there’s loads of quality garments. It’s also just a beautiful place to shop. This is a hot spot for vintage.

Last but definitely not least is the ADRA Op Shop on Milton Street. Plenty to go through here.

West Mackay

If you’re on the west side you’ll find what you’re looking for at the Lifeline shop on Nebo Road near Bridge Road.

The Incredable Tip Shop in Paget also has a clothing selection to be sorted though. It’s amazing what people throw out – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

Mount Pleasant

It’s worth crossing the river to get to the Lifeline Superstore on Heath’s Road. If you can’t tell by the name, this place is packed with clothes and shoes and other garments. You’re sure to pick up a bargain here.

North Mackay

There’s another great cluster of op shops in North Mackay, so if you’re looking to make a date of it, this is a good place to shop. First stop is the Lifeline on Creek St. There’s lot of goodies to be found here.

Just down the road on Evans Avenue you’ll find Vinnies North Mackay and the Endeavour Foundation’s Recycled Clothing outlet. Both provide lots of low cost staple clothing to fill out your wardrobe.

Even further north in Andergrove you’ll find Lifeline Andergrove on Oak Street. Pretty much all of this suburb’s second-hand clothing ends up here so there’s plenty of special pieces to find here.
